The education and disability advocacy communities have been pushing for inclusion for years. Today, our classrooms and our communities are more inclusive than ever, and yet, have we really put the right supports in place to ensure that students with learning disabilities get what they need to succeed? Our outcomes suggest we still need to do more.
NCLD has done a deep dive into a few areas that educators, parents, policy makers, and vendors must examine if we are really going to live up to the promise of inclusion. In this session we'll discuss things like, what do general education teachers need to know about the diverse learnings in their classrooms? How can they work better with all of the learning specialists in their buildings? And in a world filled with more and more apps and tech in every classroom, how can we all do better to ensure all apps, tech, etc is accessible to all students? Finally, self-advocacy skills - what more we need to do for 1 in 5 with learning and attention issues and why it will make such a big difference to all students.
